Enjoy Drinks All Year Round at These 7 Rooftop Bars in Washington, D.C.

The cold weather is brutal, but that doesn’t mean it has to change your favorite rooftop bar. Several DC area bars are offering enclosed spaces on their roofs that are designed to not obstruct the cityscape view we all know and love during the warmer months. Here are a few of the best places that are winter friendly in some of our favorite neighborhoods.

Lost Society (U Street Corridor, 2001 14th St. NW; 202-618-8868)
Located in the heart of happening U Street, Lost Society is a classy establishment catering to those looking for a craft cocktail in a trendy environment. The rooftop patio is fully enclosed, toasty warm and embraces the semi-club, lounge vibe that radiates throughout the bar. Due to its upscale nature, be sure to dress to impress.

P.O.V. Roof Terrace and Lounge (The W Hotel, 515 15th St. NW; 202-661-2400)
The best rooftop view of The District can be found sky high at the bar located at The W Hotel. Famous, swanky and “so DC,” P.O.V. Roof Terrace and Lounge is a night out to remember. This rooftop bar is great for a special occasion or just when you’re feeling classy.

Nellies Sports Bar (900 U St. NW; 202-332-6355)
Well known for their drag queen bingo, Nellies is also a great place to watch sports and mingle on the rooftop year around. This sports bar is the perfect place for a casual weekend afternoon or night out. Located across the street from The Brixton, your can easily enjoy a double header.

Old Glory (3139 M St. NW; 202-337-3406)
Arguably the best all American bar and bbq joint in DC, Old Glory fills the main drag of Georgetown with spicy aromas and happy sounds. Finger-licking ribs, cold beers and a well heated rooftop is a great way to remember the feeling of summer in the dead of winter.

Ambar
(523 8th St. SE; 202-813-3039)
Enjoy delicious European tapas and an extensive list of beer, wine and cocktails year ’round on the rooftop at Ambar. Situated in newly thriving Capitol Hill, the tasty eats and drinks double threat is a quieter alternative to the club hubs in other parts of the city. This relaxing, delicious and cozy rooftop experience is a great weeknight out.

Rock & Roll Hotel (1353 H St. NE; 202-388-7625)
If you’re looking for a place to rock out with a rooftop view, Rock & Roll Hotel is the spot for you, regularly featuring live music and fast spinning DJs. It can get a bit crowded depending on which band is jamming that night, but the dark atmosphere and strong drinks can help you lose yourself in the moment as you dance the night away overlooking downtown DC.

Brixton (901 U St. NW; 202-560-5045)
The Brixton is the perfect, reliable spot for a solid night out. The dark wood, antler chandeliers and 80s, 90s and today’s favorite dance tunes sets a happy tone for this cozy bar and rooftop. Partially enclosed yet still winter friendly, the rooftop is accessible during the frigid and more mild starry nights alike with a vivid view of the Washington Monument.
