Where to Drink and Celebrate Labor Day Weekend in DC

The unofficial end to summer is drawing nearer, and in this city, that usually means one last trip to the beach or a long, relaxing weekend in the District while everyone else is away. If you fall into the latter category, check out these festivals, restaurant specials, and rooftop parties happening during the long weekend.
A weekend calls for brunch. A holiday weekend calls for bottomless brunch. Lucky for you, all of Richard Sandoval’s restaurants (Zengo, Toro Toro, El Centro, and Masa 14) will be serving up their respective bottomless brunches, 10 AM–3 PM. For $39, you’ll get endless small plates and brunch beverages. (Multiple Locations)
Head to City Tap House on Monday, September 7 for Labor Day Crabfest. Get your fix of Maryland blue crabs with all the necessary sides: old bay fries, hushpuppies, and corn on the cob from 2–6 PM. $19 gets you a half dozen and $38 gets you a full dozen. Come early (11 AM–2 PM) for a Cask Brunch featuring Burley Oak, a Maryland Brewery not often available in DC. (901 9th St., NW; 202-644-9433)
Check out Navy Yard’s newest addition and sample offerings from their soft-opening dinner menu which runs through Labor Day weekend. Serving southern favorites like oyster po’ boys, shrimp and grits, and Nashville hot fried chicken thighs, the full lunch and dinner menu will be available starting September 8. (301 Water St., NE; 202-479-4616)
Soak in the last few rays of summer poolside on Saturday, September 5 starting at 2 PM. Embassy Row Hotel and Hot 99.5 will be hosting a rooftop pool party with live DJs. We can’t think of a better way to close out the summer season than by drinking, dancing, swimming, and taking in amazing views of the city. $45 gets you admission to the rooftop, with drinks and snacks available for purchase. (2015 Massachusetts Ave., NW; 202-265-1600)
Make the trek out to Loudoun County on Saturday, September 5, and you’ll be rewarded with award-winning wines paired with farm-to-table bites. Celebrated chefs and winemakers will be on hand throughout the festival. Tickets range from $85 for General Admission to $145 for VIP. (17263 Southern Planter Ln., Leesburg)
The W will be hosting a dinner party segueing into a rooftop bash. $65 will get you a three-course dinner at Pinea (choose from three options for first and second courses) from 6–9 PM. After you’ve digested, hop on the elevator up to POV for a rooftop party with live DJs ($15 admission to POV). (515 15th St., NW; 202-202-661-2400)
