Philadelphia Papal Visit Drink Specials, Takeovers, and More

Check out what's #OpenInPHL
Philadelphia Papal Visit Drink Specials, Takeovers, and More

This is not a drill. The Pope is in the United States and will soon be in Center City, Philadelphia. Cars are being towed, porta-potties are in place, and bars and restaurants have announced Papal specials for those stuck within the city limits.

Check out the holy deals below, and if you’re a bar or restaurant that’s open, let us know with the hashtag, #OpenInPHL.

Perch Pub (1345 Locust St.; 215-546-4090)
This accessible bar will feature plenty of Pope-themed beers all weekend long including Cape May #YOPO, DuClaw Sweet Baby Jesus and Mad Bishop, Victory St. Victorious, Southern Tier Unearthly, Two Roads Lil’ Heaven, Avery The Reverend, Russian River beers, and more. If you’d prefer some holy spirits, sip on one of three special Papal cocktails for just $8. Perch Pub will also feature a Day of Rest Happy Hour on Sunday from 8–10 PM with half-price all draft beers, $5 mixed well drinks, and $5 wines.

Morgan’s Pier (221 N Columbus Blvd.; 215-279-7134)
In addition to Popeapalooza, Morgan’s Pier will offer $3 Yuenglings and $4 Victory FestBiers Friday through Sunday.

The Bishop’s Collar (2349 Fairmount Ave.; 215-765-1616)
This Fairmount bar is hosting a special “Pope Up Beer Garden” starting on Thursday, September 24. Brews from Victory, Troegs, and New Belgium will be flowing.

Monk’s (626 S 16th St.; 215-545-7005)
If you’re looking for the most spiritual of all brews, hit up Monk’s Cafe on Saturday or Sunday for a tap takeover of Godly proportions. Monk’s will have 24 religious-themed brews on tap both days including Evil Twin Even More Jesus, Avery The Beast, Lost Abbey 10 Commandments, Russian River Redemption, Philadelphia Brewing Holy Wooder, and many more.

Trestle Inn (339 N 11th St.; 267-239-0290)
Grab $5 Heaven and Helles Vatican Citywide Specials, a shot of Heaven Hill Bourbon and a can of Sly Fox Helles Golden Lager, Wednesday through Saturday at this Callowhill bar.

Bierstube (206 Market St.; 215-922-2958)
In Old City, Bierstube will be serving up $2, $3, $4, and $5 Bartender’s Choice bottled beer specials starting Thursday, September 24. Name your price and be surprised!

McGillin's Olde Ale House (1310 Drury St.; 215-735-5562)
Sip on a Pope-tini or a Vatican Citywide (a Peroni and a shot of "Holy Water" aka vodka) while noshing on Good Shepherd's Pie, Basilica High Meatloaf, Sea of Galilee Fish & Chips, Pope Frites, and other Papal dishes.

Devil's Den (1148 S 11th St.; 215-339-0855)
It's a classic battle of good versus evil during the Devil's Den Heaven and Hell Tap Takeover. Sip on heavenly brews like Avery Salvation, He'brew Messiah, and Cape May #YOPO, or devilish delights like Weyerbacher Heresy, Lavery Devil's Pumpkin, and Smuttynose Daily Brett.

Finn McCool's (118 S 12th St.; 215-923-3090)
At Center City's Finn McCool's, sip on $4 select beers, well drinks, and wines, or $5 Victory beers and shots all weekend. If you work in the industry, you can enjoy $4 personal pizzas to boot.

Grey Lodge Pub (6235 Frankford Ave.; 215-856-3591)
Avoid the road closures and security fences in the Northeast at Grey Lodge on Friday, September 25. Take a selfie with a cutout Pope and sip on plenty of local, Pope-inspired beers including Manayunk Papal Pleasure, Philadelphia Holy Wooder, Cape May #YOPO, Doylestown Pope Bot Blond, and more.

Top of the Tower (1717 Arch St.; 215-567-8787)
See all the Papal action from 50 stories up at Top of the Tower's special SkyBrunch and SkySupper during Saturday or Sunday's events. Relax way above the crowds and see the Pope from a truly unique vantage.
