Homework: Pennsylvania Breweries by Lew Bryson
Lew Bryson is the author of a local beer blog, Seen Through a Glass, which focuses heavily on the heated PLCB Privatization Debates among other great topics in alcohol around Philadelphia.
Last year, he published the 4th edition of his book Pennsylvania Breweries, which details 73 breweries and brewpubs all over Pennsylvania, including full-on information for each location. You'll find info on what types of beer are brewed, food served, available tours, and Lew's pick of the best beer to try. In addition, it's packed with information on beer traveling, the history of beer, lodging, and many other great tidbits.
While the guide is largely geared toward travelers, there is a huge wellspring of information here that any Philadelphia beer-lover would find handy. If you're a beer-enthusiast, you should certainly give this a thumb-through at the least.
