First Friday Two Year Anniversary: Fundraiser For Alex's Lemonade, Aug 3

With Philadelphia Distilling & McCrossen's Tavern
First Friday Two Year Anniversary: Fundraiser For Alex's Lemonade, Aug 3

It's been exactly two years since we first started holding monthly First Friday art shows at our Old City world headquarters/studio, and we're celebrating our second anniversary with a fundraiser for Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation, a nonprofit fighting childhood cancer.  We'll be holding a silent auction for the art on display, and all money raised will go directly to Alex's Lemonade Stand. We will also be taking donations at the door as well as raffling off some sweet prizes. Plus, we have a special after party lined up for you.

Drop by 239 Chestnut Street from 5–9 PM enjoy free cocktail tastings from Philadelphia Distilling, featuring Bluecoat Gin, Shine Whiskey, and Penn 1681 Vodka. In honor of the charity, all drinks served have a common theme — look for Lemon Moonshine Margaritas, Cucumber Gin Lemonade and Watermelon Mint Vodka Lemonade.

Plus, McCrossen's Tavern will be bringing a full roast pig to accompany the sips. You'll also be able to view a selection of the best local art, all while listening to live music.

There is ABSOLUTELY NO COVER CHARGE. (Valid ID is required, only 21+ will be admitted.)

Live Jazz by Dave Sanders

After the art show, come to the after party, right downstairs at newly opened Barra, where you'll find specials on food and Philadelphia Distilling cocktails, as well as special DJ guests all night.

From 7–10 PM, DJ Michael Tjader will spin, and then from 10 PM–midnight, listen and dance to the stylings of Lushlife. The South Philly-based beatmaker will be performing a special set — look for a variety of his signature atmospheric sounds, which range from hip-hop, indie rock, and classic soul. Lushlife's spinning and rapping has been featured in The New York Times, which described his music as having "audacious, gorgeous production." Come hear for yourself, along with sips and plenty of brick-oven pizza.

Already a First Friday addict? Perfect! Stop by and say hi! Never tried it before? Here's the deal: On the first Friday of every month the art galleries and a few other venues in Old City open their doors and welcome you to eat, drink and enjoy the galleries FOR FREE!

Drink Philly will also be on the look out for artists to feature in future months as well! Are you an art student? What a great way to showcase your talent! Come by, check it out--it's gonna be the hottest spot for First Fridays!

Thank you Philadelphia for a great two years!
