Five Hot Drinks to Warm Your Soul

Warm you up from the inside

The Farmer’s Almanac has predicted a particularly active winter so we suggest checking out our collection of bars with warm drinks that will help put the feeling back in your fingers. Whether it is spiked cider, specialty coffee or sake served hot these Baltimore beverages are sure to warm you up from the inside as you take a break from the elements.

B&O Brasserie: The Engineer’s Coffee (pictured above; $9) is a fabulous blend of espresso and brandy, vanilla demerara sugar and Grand Marnier whipped cream. This drink is sure to give you the post-dinner kick of warmth that you need to make it home. (2 North Charles St.; 443-692-6172)

Golden West: Kick off your holiday shopping on 36th Street in Hampden which is known for its eclectic shops and excellent restaurants. Once the chill from the wind starts to sneak up on you, look for the yellow awning and drop in for the exceptionally delicious Spiked Cider made with local cider kept warm all day with cloves and cinnamon. (1105 West 36th St.; 410-889-8891)

Rusty Scupper: The Rusty Scupper coffee ($9) is one evening drink that we could get used to. It's made with Godiva White Chocolate Liqueur and Patron XO Cocoa and topped with fresh whipped cream. Make sure you leave room for one the next time you are at this Inner Harbor spot. (402 Key Hwy.; 410-727-3678)

Thames Street Oyster House: This Fells Point raw bar has been known to serve a delicious hot toddy but for the fall the Hot Buttered Rum cocktail ($8) has caught our eye. Made with Gosling’s dark rum, brown sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg we recommend sipping slowly to enjoy the full effect. (1728 Thames St.; 443-449-7726)

Ra Sushi: If you are looking to cut to the chase grab a 180ML carafe of hot sake ($4) at this Inner Harbor bar and sushi joint. Sip away or consider flavoring your sake with apple, mango, melon, raspberry, banana, peach and watermelon and adding it to any beer. (1390 Lancaster St.; 410.522.3200)
