Art Debut and Opening Party for Nimet Ozden
On Sunday, February 16, at Dock Street Brewery, come chat with Turkish painter Nimet Ozden. This is the first US exhibit of her stunning paintings - traditional, Ottoman-style watercolors known as “Miniatures” not because of the size of the canvas (standard sizes), but thanks to the painstakingly intricate, fine detail that goes into each one.
Ms. Ozden’s incredible work will be displayed at Dock Street Brewery with a gallery-style opening, a belly dancer, and Turkish-inspired music, food and drinks. Belly Dancer Mariana Marchese will perform throughout the evening.
Meticulously painted on handmade paper that Nimet makes herself, these highly detailed - and just a little bit cheeky - paintings depict a heady mix of themes from Turkish wives’ tales, historical events, and Islamic stories that represents the artist’s pride in her Turkish heritage as much as her sense of humor - and talent.
Nimet will be on hand to chat and answer questions - in English and Turkish - and the art will be for sale, with most pieces ringing in between $150-$250. RSVP to dockstreetrenata@gmail.com
