Major League Bocce Comes to the Delaware Waterfront for Spring Season

If you’re not a Major League Bocce player by now, we have only one question for you. Why not? Do you not like having a blast while enjoying Dogfish Head beer specials with your friends? Ok, that might have been more than one question, but you catch our drift.

Major League Bocce offers weekly games played between multi-person, co-ed teams. The game isn’t difficult; just about anyone who can palm a ball can have fun playing. Plus, unlike most other sports, you stand on the same side of the court as your opponents, so socializing is the norm — what better way to distract someone than by making them laugh, right?

The spring season runs from April 22 through June 10, and games are hosted at a variety of locations throughout the city. You can even choose to play on bocce courts overlooking the river this season by registering to play at Cavanaugh’s River Deck.

Games are held either on Wednesday or Thursday evenings, depending upon the location. Cav’s River Deck games will be held on Wednesdays between 6:30 and 9:30 PM. Did we mention there’s also free parking on Wednesdays?

Other locations include Center City’s Dilworth Park, Northern Liberties’ The Druid’s Keep and South Philly’s Jefferson Square Park.

If this sounds like the game for you, head over to Major League Bocce’s website to register your team or sign up as a free agent and be matched with a team. Registration is $50 per person and includes a t-shirt, Dogfish Head drink specials, weekly prizes and a party at the end of the season. We’ll see you on the courts!
