Grey Lodge Pub Celebrates First 'Friday the Firkinteenth' of 2016

For the 33rd time in more than 17 years, Northeast Philly's legendary Grey Lodge Pub will celebrate a Friday that falls on the 13th of the month with a smorgasbord of cask-conditioned ales on Friday, May 13.

Wrenching this bedeviled date from the likes of black cats, publican Mike "Scoats" Scotese makes the day into a beer geek’s dream with Friday the Firkinteenth.

May 13 marks 2016's first Friday the 13, and in keeping with a tradition that's been in place since 1998, Grey Lodge will take that opportunity and serve up tons of cask ales to thirsty, possibly superstitious guests. Since this event is entirely at the mercy of the calendar, it doesn't come around very often, so be sure to head to Grey Lodge to see it for yourself.

For this Firkinteenth, things will run similarly to the last few. That is, Grey Lodge will split the casks into two sessions — a day session from 12 PM - 6 PM and an evening session from 6 PM - 12 AM. Also back are the “I Kicked a Firkin at Friday the Firkinteenth” T-shirts for those lucky enough to kick a firkin. Check out the full list of firkins lined up for the fest below:
