Fiume might be the best bar you’ve never heard of, but that should end this week. Philly drinkers in the know have been making the trip up to this West Philly second-floor spot for years (it’s above Ethiopian restaurant Abyssinia) to enjoy great cocktails and a good beer selection, all with great prices. Man behind the stick Kevin Holland has declared August 26–September 1 cocktail week.

What to expect when you go? From the Facebook event page, we learn that “You will not wait an hour for your drink.” In fact, that’s so true that it’s spelled out in all caps. Extra staff is being brought in to make sure, and a streamlined menu full of simple but tasty classics makes it even easier.

The drinks on offer will span the range from “easy, bright, refreshing” to “challenging, boozy and downright abstruse.” Also, there will be punch. And if you happen to have a few friends along who aren’t total booze fiends, Fiume will happily hook them up with a beer or a non-alcoholic bevvy. Never been a better time for a drinking trip to West Philly.
