Max's Taphouse Annual Belgian Beer Festival, February 15-18

Max's Taphouse Annual Belgian Beer Festival, February 15-18

For the ninth year running, Max’s Taphouse is hosting its annual Belgian Beer Festival, and beer lovers from all over the region will descend on Fells Point for a chance to sample over 200 different Belgian beers poured fresh from the tap along with 200 more in bottles.

The lineup will vary throughout the weekend, changing as kegs are kicked, but each day the doors will open at 11 AM, and there is no entrance fee. There will be a line, however, but luckily only one of the days this weekend is slated for rain (just be sure to bring your umbrella with you on Saturday).

Some of the special Belgians you’ll find on draft are De Struise XXX Rye Triple, the Hof Ten Dormaal barrel aged project beers, De La Senne Band of Brothers and many, many more. Special for this year is a bottle release event from 11 AM–1 PM on Monday, February 18, with 10 different special bottles on sale to go, including Ommegang 15 Anniversary Ale, St. Somewhere Serge and Upright Seven.

This year’s festival happens to fall on a long weekend, so on Presidents Day, Max’s is doing something new. Monday, February 18 will also bring the first annual American Sour/Funk Fest, with a dozen or more of that style on tap. Look for Dogfish Head 2 Blind Mice, New Belgium/Lost Abbey Brett, Evil Twin Femme Fatale Brett and other funky finishers.

There are special discounts available on hotel rooms for those attending the fest from out of town; find info on Max’s website. Let us know your favorites if you go.
