Oscar Watch: Academy Awards Fun on Sunday, Feb 26

This Sunday is the occasion of the 84th Annual Academy Awards (and the 73rd time Billy Crystal will host, or something like that), and several D.C. restaurants are getting in on the golden statue fun. Pull up a seat at the bar at the Southwest Waterfront’s Station 4 to enjoy drink specials as you watch the show on several large TVs. A Red Carpet Mimosa (Lambrusco sparkling wine, Ciroc Red Berry, tonic, garnished with orange) can be yours for $7, select wines by the glass will run you just $5, and $4 scores a brew like Peroni, Pilsner Urquell, Blue Moon, Batch 19 or Miller Lite.

If you want a more interactive experience, head to one of Passion Food Hospitality’s establishments for a special red carpet dinner. At Acadiana, Ceiba, DC Coast, and District Commons, the chef will “nominate” the top appetizer, entree and dessert, presented on a menu for just $84 per couple. You and your dining partner will “vote” for one of each of three courses (by ordering and eating it, of course), and the next day, each restaurant will post the winning dishes on its Facebook page. Additionally, you can get in the celebratory mood with half-price glasses or bottles of Tattinger Champagne.

Hollywood is ready to celebrate... are you?
