Portland Beer Week: Rye Beer Fest, June 8

After you kick off Portland Beer Week on Thursday night, come back to the Spirit of 77 for the first ever Rye Beer Fest, presented by Taplister.com. A celebration of the recent rye beer renaissance, the festival will feature several brews created specially for the event, as well as curated pairings of rye whiskey and beer.

Entry is free, of course, and pours of beer will be available for $1 (4 oz.), $2.50 (10 oz.) and $5, which brings 20 ounces — for those brews you just absolutely fall in love with. Expect to sip one-offs like Hopworks Fight for your Rye’t, as well as staples like Upright Six and Oakshire Line Dry Rye. From 4–6 PM, several of the brewers of these fine quaffs will be around, ready to chat with PDX rye beer fans of all kinds.

A benefit for We Love Clean Rivers, the party, which runs through 10 PM, will also feature an hourly raffle drawing ($2 tickets; 15 for $10), with prizes that range from NRS boating merch to Smith Optics sunglasses (for easy scanning of rye wheat fields, presumably). You can (and should) RSVP on Facebook, and then head to NE Lloyd for a spicy good time.
