Tashan Introduces Brunch With Free Bloody Mary
If you haven’t considered Indian food for brunch, you probably haven’t yet been to Tashan, the inventive new bar and restaurant in the ground floor of 777 South Broad from Munish Narula of Tiffin fame. Unlike Narula’s reliable but unadorned quick-serve empire, Tashan is an exotic thrill, with almost nothing mundane about it. From the dark, intricately carved wood decor to the fanciful tandoors lining the open kitchen to the gleaming, well-stocked bar, every part of the interior lives up to the high standard set by the near-flawless Indo-European fusion cuisine put out by chef Sylva Senat.
Sunday mornings are all about relaxing fun, and that’s exactly what is served up from 11 AM–2:30 PM at Tashan’s brunch, which just launched this month. In addition to the varied meal choices – which include coconut-anise pancakes with fresh berries; veggie samosas with ghee-roasted cashews; egg-battered French toast with pecan butter and apple cinnamon sorbet; and 21-spice pork sliders – there’s a make-your-own Bloody Mary bar with a large assortment fixings and spices.
Even better, when you choose to order a brunch entree, your first trip up to make your own tomato spirit wake-me-up cocktail is entirely free! If you happen to just be along for the ride, or aren’t ready to eat a full plate yet, the Bloodys are $7 each, or $20 for all-you-can-drink, which might be the way to get your vitamins in if your stomach is still recovering from the previous night’s festivities. Curried vodka for breakfast? Count us in.
