Oltremare: Inside Look at their Amalfi Coast Inspired Cocktails

Oltremare is the newest endeavor by Chef Townsend Wentz, located at 2121 Walnut Street, near Rittenhouse Square. The cozy Italian restaurant is deeply inspired by the seafood and flavors of the Amalfi Coast and offers a welcoming and warm atmosphere. This is the sixth restaurant now for the Wentz group, joining Townsend EPX, A Mano, Oloroso, The Hayes, and recently acquired Caribou Cafe.

The restaurant accommodates 70 seats between the dining room and upper mezzanine, along with an intimate bar for four. The decor is tastefully simple, featuring green plants, soft lighting, and comfortable seating.

Che Beilo: earl grey infused gin, elderflower, creme de violette, lemon

The bar is small but smartly curated as they wanted to be versatile enough that anyone can walk in and request any cocktail they want or have seen or heard of, and the bartenders can do that or a variation of it. In essence the bartenders can make anything you want.

Principessa: vodka, Aperol, sparkling, sage syrup, lime

Food menu highlights include Bluefin Tuna Crudo with pickled kumquat, Calabrian chili, and Sorreto; Fluke Ceviche with mussel vinaigrette, fresno chili, and shisho; and Spaghetti alla Limone with sorrento lemon, parmesan, and basil.

Patrons can expect a wide array of amaros, Italian wines, and traditional as well as modern Italian-inspired cocktails at the establishment. These include the Negroni Spagliatto, which combines Cocchi Torino, Campari, and gin, topped with sparkling wine; the Principessa, made with vodka, sage syrup, lime juice, Aperol, and sparkling wine; a variation of the Manhattan featuring Averna Amaro, Cardamaro, and rye whiskey; and the Il Nono, skillfully crafted with Tuaca, bourbon, and angostura bitters. There's also a Bartender's choice cocktail that rotates so there's always something new to try.

Desert Cruiser: prickly pear syrup, mezcal, guanaco tequila, lime, sailor's aperitif

Future Nostalgia: blanco tequila, Wray & Nephew rum, Velvet Falernum, Green Chartreuse, kiwi, vanilla, pineapple, lime

Figurati: rye, Punt e Mes, Nonino, Luxardo
