Australia is the world’s fourth largest wine exporter, a huge advance for the country, since until relatively recently, wines from “down under” were mostly looked down upon. Advances in agriculture and production have changed all this, however, and now Aussie vintages rank with the best. You’ll have a chance to see for yourself at Ristorante Panorama on Friday, August 2.

With your ticket ($25 in advance, here; $35 at the door), Jay Vaughan of Capital Wine & Spirits will pour tastes of several Australian wines from classic appellations like the Barossa Valley. Also included are snacks of cheese and light hors d’oeuvres to pair with the wine. The event runs from 6–8 PM at the Front Street restaurant.
