The wine bar at Old City's
Ristorante Panorama will deviate from its regularly scheduled programming this Friday, November 15, when sommelier and general manager William Eccleston steers his ongoing “Friday Night Flights” happy hour tasting series towards beer.
Ordinarily wine takes center stage for these gatherings. Panorama, after all, is home to
the world’s largest temperature-controlled wine preservation and dispensing system. Owner Luca Sena even has a
Guinness World Record to prove it.
But this time, Panorama’s staff will eagerly show off its brand new six-tap draft system. Eccleston will draw five local brews, and of course, one Italian import from it, while highlighting the characteristics of each for guests, and discussing how the beers featured compliment the spread of cheese and hors d'oeuvres that will be provided.
Tickets for the tasting, which begins at 6 PM, run $25 in advance, and $35 at the door, provided space is available.
Check the full draft list below:
Peroni (5.1 percent abv) — full-flavored lager in classic European style
Victory Lager (4.8 percent abv) — lemony crisp and refreshing golden lager
Stoudt's "Double IPA" (10 percent abv) — dry-hopped smooth and strong
Yards "Poor Richard's Tavern Spruce" (5 percent abv) — based on Ben Franklin's original recipe-brewed with spruce tips and molasses
Tröegs "Tröegenator" (8.2 percent abv) — bold, chewy and rich double bock
Yards "George Washington Tavern Porter" (7 percent abv) — roasted rich and dark
