Trestle Inn Shakes Up New Cocktails
Trestle Inn, the once dicey jiggle joint that’s stood at the corner of 11th and Callowhill in the city’s Eraserhood since the days when the ink was still wet on Declaration of Independence, just debuted a revamped cocktail list.
To overhaul the bar’s drinkable offerings, owners Ian Cross and Josette Bonafino tapped Katie Loeb, bartendrix extraordinaire and author of the definitive Shake, Stir, Pour: Fresh Homegrown Cocktails, to work her magic. What she’s come up with is nothing short of stupendous. Believe us, in a recent marathon session, we tasted the majority of them.
The updated list features 12 new tipples, six of which are Loeb’s clever riffs on the canon of classic cocktails, while the other half-dozen are her own completely original creations. What you will find is the case made for a proper Galliano revival in her Javier Wallbanger (Cazadores Reposado, Galliano, orange juice and fresh lime); a tasteful, grown-up use of Southern Comfort with her Hell ‘n Ready (Southern Comfort, St. Remy Brandy, cranberry juice and fresh lime); and a call for banishing pre-packaged grenadine in her Jack Rose (Laird’s Bonded Apple Brandy, fresh lime and housemade grenadine).
The fully revised list, broken down by Cocktails, Whiskey Cocktails, and Whiskey Sours is posted below.
