Absolut Berri Acai
I usually get pretty tired of all the spam emails I receive about the powers of Acai berry. But I shan’t ever doubt the power of Absolut Berri Acai, especially after being so lavishly introduced to it at the top floor of the Palomar Hotel in Philadelphia a few weeks ago. A glimmering room, clouded in purple haze topped off with delicious hors d’oeuvres and special cocktails was a great way to spend a Monday evening. Not to mention the special treats prepared for the guests: a fun photo booth and really talented Brazilian capoeira artists.
The vodka itself is much fruitier and lighter than some of the other varietals of Absolut. It retains the ever-smooth finish that one expects from such a great liquor as well. The acai notes are not subtle at all, in a marvelously delightful way. At first sip, you’re greeted with a fresh, tart taste. Immediately afterward, you get a light, sweet aftertaste that leaves you ready for another sip.
This vodka would go great in a variation of a cosmo: splash of cranberry juice and a dash of triple sec. I’d also recommend this in a mango-orange juice (if you can find it). It sounds like it could be a fruity overload, but the end result is actually super refreshing! Try it frozen, in fact, if you have a good blender. You’ll be everyone’s best friend.
All in all, this was a great night full of charming surprises. The vodka itself I recommend highly. If you’re a manly man who likes your beers dark, perhaps skip this one. However, if you’re the kind of person who’s excited for summer because of sipping a margarita outside, pick up a bottle of this or go to your favorite bar and order it. And if they don’t have it…it’s worth finding one who does! Check out one of my favorite cocktail from the evening below! Enjoy and happy summer!
