Brauhaus Schmitz Celebrates Its Fifth Anniversary, Thurs., June 26
South Street’s Brauhaus Schmitz is coming up on its Fifth Anniversary this week. To mark this milestone, owner Doug Hager and Chef Jeremy Nolen are throwing a party on Thursday, June 26 with copious amounts of Bavarian beers and a bounteous German buffet. It’s fitting that the party takes place on the same day that USA squares off against Germany in World Cup Soccer.
Party goers can look forward to a sprawling buffet served by Chef Nolen and his talented kitchen crew. Some of the specialties included are assorted sausages, all made in-house; Ziguenerschnitzel, chicken cutlet with spicy red wine-pepper sauce; roasted pork loin with dunkel lager gravy; Gemüsespätzle, spätzle sauteed with spinach, mushrooms, caramelized onions and cream; German potato salad; and an assortment of charcuterie and cheeses. The drinking portion of the evening will be highlighted by an open bar featuring Brauhaus’s peerless German beer selection. The whole thing runs $20 a person. Proceeds will be donated to Friends of the South Street Police Mini-Station, a partnership between the police, residents and the business community along South Street.
