Chestnut Hill's Iron Hill to Serve 'Philly Grown, Philly Raised' Menu Additions in August and September
For just two nights in August and September, Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant’s lone Philadelphia location in Chestnut Hill will celebrate city-grown produce with special menu additions that highlight locally harvested goods.
On Wednesday, August 6, and again on Wednesday, September 3, Iron Hill’s Chef Jared Cannon will prepare and serve a la carte specials that will make use of exceptional produce procured from Weavers Way Farms at Saul Agricultural High School and Awbury Arboretum, both of which are less than 10 miles from the restaurant and brewpub. Naturally, these special plates will be designed to pair perfectly with Iron Hill’s award-winning beers.
Though subject to change due to availability, the dishes on tap on August 6 include a Kohlrabi Soup with charred scallions; Weavers Way Spring Mix Salad with sweet pepper, plum tomato, onion, cucumber, carrot and fresh herb vinaigrette; Crispy Kale Chips with lemon-yogurt sauce; Pan-Seared Halibut with braised Swiss chard, pea shoots and roasted shallot cream; and Braised Chicken and Kale in lemon-herb broth with onions, fennel and cherry tomatoes.
For September’s feast, Cannon plans on serving Cauliflower and Sorrel Soup; Grilled Octopus, marinated and served with braised kale, tomato and beans; Pan-Seared Chilean Sea Bass with glazed hakueri turnips, baby bok choy, pea shoots and miso-ginger broth; and Pan-Roasted Salmon with braised collard greens, roasted fingerling potatoes and radish raita sauce. The special dishes will range in price from $5.50 to $24.50.
