Tangier Counting Down Its Final Days
There’s less than two weeks left to pull up a stool and enjoy one last pop at Tangier.
While it’s been no secret that the cozy G-Ho spot that’s been keeping Center City’s collective whistles wet for the past 32 years, was calling it quits, there’s now a definitive date for the bar’s closing. And it’s coming up a lot sooner than expected.
Owner Jack Roe took to social media to announce that Tangier will call it quits for good on Monday, August 4.
"Okay gang, this is the official word, We Will be providing food drink and shelter until Monday night August 4 as long as we have not run out of beer and liquor.
I have begun to remove everything from the walls as certain objects have walked already."
Exactly what comes next for the 18th and Lombard corner isn’t exactly clear. Roe's attempts to shed some light don't add up to much.
"After discussion with the new owners what I knew would come to pass is in fact they are going to close and redo the place and make it into I don't know what but Tangier will be no more."
So with the days numbered, there’s no time like the present to stop in to enjoy a drink and say your goodbyes.
