Zama Tapping Yet Another Ultra-Rare Hitachino Nest Beer
On a couple of different occasions restaurateur Hiroyuki “Zama” Tanaka has managed to score some exceptionally uncommon kegs of Hitachino Nest ales at his Zama and CoZara.
This weekend, he and his bar staff at Zama will tap yet another.
This one, Hitachino Yuzu Saison, is modeled after a traditional farmhouse ale and is brewed with coriander, nutmeg and orange peel. But unlike most ales brewed in the Belgian tradition, this one gets an an addition of yuzu juice. Like the the Anbai Plum Wheat Ale that Zama’s tapped in the past, this barrel of the seldom-scene Japanese export is one of only a small handful to make it stateside.
It goes on tap Friday, August 15 and will be available for $12 a glass until the line runs dry, which will likely happen sometime before Sunday. So if you want a taste, you’d better get yourself over their stat.
