Germantown Avenue Brewers Cartel Hosts Killer Pub Crawl, Sat., Sept. 20
Three of Philadelphia’s most talented brewers, Paul Rutherford of Iron Hill Brewery Chestnut Hill, Scott Morrison of Barren Hill Tavern & Brewery, and Tom Baker of Earth Bread + Brewery, have formed a suds syndicate known as the Germantown Avenue Brewers Cartel. It gets its name from the main thoroughfare that runs the four-mile stretch that each of their brewpubs face.
On Saturday, September 20 the cartel is throwing a bash to celebrate the series of limited, small batch collaboration beers the three brewed in each others breweries. This is no ordinary pub crawl though. They’ve lined up buses to shuttle drinkers back and forth from each of the cartel’s strongholds. The buses will be running on a continuous loop all day.
Twenty bucks gets you on the bus, and at each stop, you’ll get a 12 oz. pour of the featured beer. Additional beers will available for purchase, and the brewers will be on hand to talk a little about their collaborations.
The Cartel’s featured beers are:
Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant
Three Radicals: a saison with buckwheat and buckwheat honey brewed by Barren Hill's Scott Morrison
Earth Bread + Brewery
Jelly Donut: a cherry Berliner Weisse brewed by Iron Hill's Paul Rutherford
Barren Hill Tavern & Brewery
Bottle Boquette: a Bier de Garde with local sorrel and arugula brewed by Earth Bread + Brewery's Tom Baker
