Independence Day 2015: Where to Celebrate July 4th in Philadelphia

As the birthplace of our nation, Philadelphia is a fantastic place to celebrate America’s birthday. Here’s where to drink, eat and party to celebrate July 4th this year. Happy Independence Day!

Philadelphia Orchestra Concert and Fireworks
Thursday, July 2, 8 PM
Penn’s Landing
The orchestra presents a totally free concert on the waterfront, followed by a magnificent fireworks display.

Thursday, July 2, 5–10:30 PM
Independence Seaport Museum (211 S Columbus Blvd.)
Join Drink Philly and Independence Seaport Museum as we reopen the Tall Ships Tavern for the Thursday night fireworks on the Delaware River. $17 gets you entrance to the beer garden, two drinks, access to the museum, and fantastic views of the fireworks.

Saturday, July 4, Noon–7 PM
Benjamin Franklin Parkway (20th Street to Eakins Oval)
The Parkway will be closed to traffic and food trucks, drink vendors, music and games will take over.

Saturday, July 4, 7:30–11 PM
Benjamin Franklin Parkway (20th Street to Eakins Oval)
The party really gets started as The Roots return to lead the “largest free concert in America” with an all-star roster of musical talent and a grand finale fireworks show over the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

Friday–Sunday, July 3–5
Chaddsford Winery (632 Baltimore Pike, Chadds Ford)
Spend the weekend at Chaddsford Winery where you can enjoy BBQ, live music, and plenty of wine. Oink & Moo BBQ will be haning out all weekend along with Weckerly's Ice Cream and a bunch of great musical acts.

Friday–Sunday, July 3–5
Standard Tap (901 N 2nd St.)
It’s a celebration of everything pork at this Northern Liberties gastropub. Pork chops, bacon, ribs, belly, scrapple, and plenty more pig will be available for noshing. “BBQ friendly” drafts will be on tap to wash down all that pork.

Friday–Sunday, July 3–5
Percy Street Barbecue (900 South St.)
It’s a patriotic weekend at Percy Street Barbecue on South Street. Celebrate with $3 Oskar Blues brews all weekend long. If you wear a Percy Street shirt, you’ll get a beer on the house.

4th of July Weekend BBQ
Friday–Sunday, July 3–5
Khyber Pass Pub is sponsoring a weekend-long BBQ at the East Passyunk PHS Pop-Up Garden. Grab great beer and drink specials all weekend to pair with classic cook-out foods like hamburgers, hot dogs, BBQ chicken, potato salad, green bean salad, blueberry cobbler, and so much more.

4th of July BBQ and Lobster Pot
Sturday–Sunday, July 4–5, 3–10 PM
Varga Bar (941 Spruce St.)
Join Varga Bar for an Independence Day BBQ and lobster feast. Enjoy the traditional BBQ items like hot dogs, burgers, and ribs. If you're feeling a little more nautical, feast on a lobster pot filled with Maine lobster, shrimp, clams, scallops, crabs, and mussels. While you feast, sip on $4 American craft beer specials.
