Row, Race, and Revel in the Final Days of Summer at the Walnut2Walnut Regatta, Sept. 19

Row, Race, and Revel in the Final Days of Summer at the Walnut2Walnut Regatta, Sept. 19

Don’t squander these last days of summer. Make a splash at the Walnut2Walnut Regatta by participating in one of two unique, river-centric events. Join the 15 nautical mile, two-river Regatta or the city-wide Scavenger Hunt, and finish the day with a BBQ on the second-floor balcony of the Independence Seaport Museum.

Participants can choose to row or paddle their way 15 nautical miles along the Schuylkill and Delaware Rivers as part of the Regatta or, for the landlubbers, scour the city in a maritime-themed scavenger hunt. The Regatta begins at 9:30 AM while the Scavenger Hunt starts at 11 AM. Both events begin at Walnut Street and the Schuylkill River and end at the Seaport Museum at Walnut Street and the Delaware.

To make the events even more challenging, there are a few stipulations. Regatta participants can only use human-powered boats (no motorboats). Scavenger Hunt participants will only be allowed to run, walk, or use public transportation to gather clues. All participants get a T-shirt, discounts at the Seaport Museum store, and entry to the Boatshop BBQ at the museum after the events. Scavenger Hunt participants will also be given a day pass for SEPTA. Prizes will be awarded for both events. After both events are over, participants are invited to enjoy a BBQ with food and drinks on the second-floor balcony of the Seaport Museum.

Registration is now open online for both the Regatta and Scavenger Hunt. Registration for the Regatta is $60 and does not include boat rentals. Scavenger Hunt registration is $40. Proceeds from the event will go towards the ecology efforts and on-the-water education programs of Independence Seaport Museum.
