Michael Pasquarello,
owner of
Cafe Lift and
Kensington Quarters, has set his sights on the former Burg’s Lounge space at 1200 South 21st Street in Point Breeze. His newest venture, Buckminster’s, is currently slated for a fall opening, with chef
Rob Marzinsky (formerly of
Pub & Kitchen and
Fitler Dining Room) at the kitchen’s helm. (Kensington Quarters’ butcher,
Heather Thomason, will also be on hand.)
As for the food, Marzinsky and Pasquarello have been throwing the term “neo-bistro” around, which is a smidge unclear but probably refers to the kind of upscale, French-inspired bistro menus we’ve been seeing a lot of in Philly - though who are we to complain about more inspired burger-and-fries combos? No word on the bar yet, but we’ll update as we get any news (though presumably we’ll see local craft brews and cocktails if Marzinsky’s previous restaurants have any influence).
Marzinsky spent a few days testing out some menus at Queen Village’s Little Fish, which you can see evidence of on his Instagram, including some shots of delicious looking curries and sauces. So keep an eye on social media for intermittent Buckminster’s updates until we get an official opening date for the bistro.
