The corner of East York and Martha Street in Kensington will soon bear a namesake bar - the property is now under construction to build Martha, a new bar from a team including developers
Cary Borish and
Michael Parsell, plus
Jon Medlinsky of
Khyber Pass Pub. Medlinsky, who is somewhat of a sour beer connoisseur, will be bringing his passion for fermentation to the bar - nearly everything available will be on tap, from beer, wine, and cocktails to kombucha, kefir, and a nitro line for
ReAnimator coffee.
The bar itself is expected to span the entirety of the building, and the space will feature some pretty cool accoutrements, like a fireplace, a bocce ball court open during the warmer months, and a record player for guests to fiddle with. Seating will include everything from banquets to a summertime patio.
The menu shouldn’t be overlooked here, either -- perhaps the most exciting development is the news that Joe Beddia of Pizzeria Beddia will be making the bread for Martha’s sandwiches and hoagies. Other menu items include essential bar fare like pickles and charcuterie. There’s no opening date currently, but keep an eye on social media for opening updates, and be sure to follow Martha’s progress on Instagram.
