Mike Solomonov’s new restaurant slash philanthropic venture,
Rooster Soup Company, is set to open at 1526 Sansom Street in “early 2016,” and while they’ll serve more than soup, it’ll all go towards a good cause.
Using
Federal Donuts’ unused chicken bones, Rooster Soup Company will make nourishing, delicious broths for the public, with one huge financial catch — all proceeds will go directly to the
Broad Street Ministry. They’ll have a rotating list of soups, including Matzo Ball, Hungarian Goulash, Portuguese Fisherman’s Stew, and Borscht, and they’ll also offer some vegan and vegetarian options made without chicken stock, like Yemenite Style Curry with Coconut Milk and Celery Root. There will also be a variety of sandwiches and salads available to pair with your soups.
Most importantly, this spot has a liquor license, and will offer a full-service bar complete with classic cocktails (Whiskey Sours, Salty Dogs, and the like) alongside bottled and canned beers and house wines.
Stay updated through Rooster Soup Company’s
website and
Twitter, and be sure to stop in for a bowl of soup and good vibes once they’re up and running.
