Susanna Foo is making a triumphant return to Center City with her new restaurant concept,
SUGA, which is moving into 1720 Sansom Street.
Foo’s original restaurant, the eponymous Susanna Foo, was a 22-year institution that stood alongside
Le Bec Fin as one of the first fine-dining bastions of Center City, but since it closed in 2009, diners have been curious about Foo’s fate. Lucky for them, the SUGA space, as of last month, was looking near completion.
Not many menu details have been released yet, but Foo has been teasing some pictures of new dishes on the restaurant’s
Facebook page, including
Mandarin Crispy Shrimp,
Treasure Sticky Rice with Kennett Square Mushrooms, and
Eggplant and Tomato — so keep an eye on that space for more information as SUGA inches closer to opening.
