Your Day-by-Day Guide to the Best Events During the Philadelphia Craft Brewers Conference

by Drink Philly on May 2, 2016 in Roundups

The Philadelphia Craft Brewer Conference is underway, and with so many events happening at once, the choices can seem overwhelming. Here, we’ve narrowed down the coolest events happening this week while the conference is in town.

Monday, May 2
Head to Bainbridge Street Barrel House for a meet-and-greet with the owners of Salt Water Brewery, who will be pouring brews like Confused in the Morning and Salty Buddha, from 7 PM — 12 AM. (625 S. 6th St.; 267-324-3553)

Sly Fox Brewery brewmaster Brian O’Reilly and Two Roads Brewery brewmaster Phil Markowski are reuniting after working together long ago, so stop in and meet them at Good Dog from 7 PM — 12 AM. (224 S 15th St.; 215-985-9600)

Tuesday, May 3
Standard Tap will be pouring Yards Brewing Company beers from 5 PM — 12 AM, including Yards’ newest premiere, the DIPA Cape of Good Hope. (901 N 2nd St.; 215-238-0630)

Over at Strangelove’s, starting at 5 PM, you can meet members of the Australian Hop Growers Association and enjoy beers that feature Australian hops. If you happen to be an AHA member, show your card to receive an Australian hop gift pack from Victory Brewing Co., who will be on hand with plenty of their beers as well. (216 S 11th St.; 215-873-0404)

Wednesday, May 4
From 2 PM — 5 PM, join Lauren Salazar from New Belgium Brewing to learn about (and taste) different Belgian ales. She’ll be at Monk’s, which will serve small fermented bites to pair alongside the beers. (264 S 16th St.; 215-545-7005)

The PFS Roxy will be showing a screening of Beerfest paired with brews from Stone & Key Cellars. The movie starts at 7 PM, so go grab a seat early! (2023 Sansom St.; 267-639-9508)

Thursday, May 5
Starting at 5 PM, Join the team from New Orleans’ favorite brewery Abita at Twisted Tail for a tasting of their wide selection, from Purple Haze to Turbo Dog. (509 S 2nd St.; 215-558-2471)

At 8 PM, head to The Industry for an Iron Hill Brewery tap takeover, including beers they’ve entered into the World Beer Cup. Some of the brewers will even be available to discuss their past wins. (1401 E Moyamensing Ave.; 215-271-9500)

Friday, May 6
Though the World Beer Cup will be given out on Friday, the event is closed to the public — but if you still want to celebrate, Varga Bar will be hosting an unofficial afterparty. Head over to taste beers from tons of breweries and to try your hand at winning a Philly Golden Pretzel Award. (941 Spruce St.; 215-627-5200)
