2SP to Release "Alternative Facts" Blonde Stout
Delaware County’s 2SP Brewing has released “Alternative Facts,” a blonde stout made with vanilla and coffee beans, throughout the Philadelphia area.
What makes the stout a blonde stout is that it lacks roasted malts which give stouts their usual dark, roasty color. What 2SP’s head brewer, Bob Barrar, did to replicate the rich taste of roasted malts in the beer was add vanilla, coffee beans and cocoa nibs to the brew. This provided an end product that is 7% ABV with the look of a golden ale but the taste of a full bodied stout.
If you’ve been living in an alternative universe, “alternative facts” refers to White House spokesperson Kellyanne Conway’s infamous rhetoric to describe what was opposite of the truth, known to many as lies, about Donald Trump’s inauguration. Also, being that the stout is a blonde stout and it’s made in an “alternative” fashion without roasted malts, the whole thing is very fitting.
You can try the beer beginning on Monday at bars including Johnny Brenda's, Local 44, Standard Tap, City Tap House, Bru, Varga, Butcher Bar, Bottle Bar East, Pinocchio's in Media, Beer Love and the Industry Bar. 2SP made sure to note in their press release that they hope everyone can set aside their differences for a while to appreciate a damn good beer. And to that we say cheers!
