Dock Street Brewery is Opening a New Canning Annex & Tasting Room

by Drink Philly on Mar 23, 2017 in Beer

Dock Street Brewery is expanding its existing space in West Philly by adding a canning annex and a new tasting room for guests, which should be completed sometime next month.

Dock Street’s space, currently located at 701 S 50th St., is gaining almost 1,200 square feet by utilizing a garage directly next door that will become a new wing for both production and entertaining. This expansion has the potential to boost Dock Street’s production by 75%, and a tasting room will be a welcome addition to both the neighborhood and the brewery itself.

The tasting room, which will be open Thursdays through Sundays, will feature a full bar serving cocktails made with fresh ingredients and, most importantly, a focus on Pennsylvania spirits. Draft wine and — obviously — beer will also be available alongside small bites, although drinks will be the main draw.

As for the cans, Philly-based artist John Carlano, a longtime friend of Dock Street, will be designing the new look, and the beers inside will be a mix of Dock Street's classic brews and some limited-edition picks. First, they'll release 16 oz cans of their Golden IPA, alongside two seasonal offerings (No Exit Double IPA and Jip the Blood, a blood orange-infused Berliner weisse). You'll only be able to get these new cans directly from the cannery or a few restaurants carefully chosen by the Dock Street crew, but four-packs and 24-packs to go will also be available from both Dock Street itself and select distributors.

Dock Street is already an indispensable part of Philly’s brewing scene, and we’re thrilled to see it expand its business even further.
