Philly's Best Happy Hours: $3 Appetizers, $4 Beers, & $5 Wines at The Dandelion
Welcome to Philly’s Best Happy Hours, a feature highlighting great happy hours in different neighborhoods throughout Philadelphia. Since Drink Philly started out as a place to find happy hours in the city, we thought it was only right to return to our roots and turn the spotlight on some of Philly’s absolute best happy hour deals.
This week's installment is all about The Dandelion, Stephen Starr's British gastropub in the heart of Rittenhouse Square which gives new life to British cuisine and houses one of the city's only cask ale programs.
Nestled in a cozy, three-story former apartment building decked out with whimsical rooms like the "Inglenook" and the "Dog Bar," The Dandelion is home to one of the country's first certified cask ale programs and serves up delectable takes on traditional British cuisine, from their weekly Sunday roast to their perfectly crispy fish & chips.
The Dandelion's happy hour, which takes place Monday through Friday from 5 PM - 7 PM at the downstairs bar only, is a perfect showcase for some of Dandelion's signature snacks, including their curried deviled eggs and Welsh rarebit, a traditional British dish made with mustard, beer, cheese & bread that was originally created as a wartime food. All the bar snacks — deviled eggs, Welsh rarebit, spiced bar nuts, and warm olives — will cost you only $3, and if you're looking to pair it with a drink, the deals keep coming. Choose from $4 beers like Victory Prima Pils, Yards IPA, Narragansett, or a Bombardier shandy (Well's Bombardier topped with Sprite) or $5 wines like Malbec and Pinot Grigio.
"I love that the happy hour draws in a great crowd," says manager Shaun Jolly. "I've seen so many people come in for happy hour and end up staying for dinner, simply because it's a great introduction to our menu and what we do here."
If you want to cross the pond without ever leaving Philadelphia, stop into The Dandelion's happy hour for traditional British pub snacks, great deals on drinks, and a completely unique atmosphere.
