La Peg's Ice Bar Pegsicle Returns for the Winter, January 15
Things are about to get brisk at La Peg with the return of Pegsicle, an outdoor bar made out of hand-carved ice.
The idea for “Pegsicle” came from the bar’s chef/owner, Peter Woolsey, who is carving the project out of 16 blocks of ice himself. New this year is an ice sculpture garden, with designs hand crafted by five local artists. One of the special features of the bar will be an ice luge which can be utilized for shots-taking.
“Carving Pegsicle last winter – including the second time, after it melted! – was such a fun and unusual experience that we knew we wanted to make it even bigger and better for 2018,” said Woolsey in a press release. He will begin the carving on Monday, January 15 at 12 PM and should be finished by 5 PM when patrons can order their first drinks at the fresh ice bar. The local artists will begin their carvings each following night of the week starting at 5 PM with guests encouraged to grab a drink and watch by the fire pits.
Guests can visit from for a special drink menu at the outside bar including $8 hot drinks like mulled wine and spiked hot chocolate; $10 cocktails such as Moscow mules, rum daiquiris and blood orange margaritas; $5 cans of Sly Fox 113 IPA, Michelob Ultra, Oskar Blues Old Chub Scotch Ale and Blackbird Cider; and $7 house wines. They’ll also offer $4 shots, such as Kamikazes (vodka, triple sec and lime), Surfer on Acids (Malibu, Jägermeister and pineapple), and other straight liquor shots.
The ice bar will be open 5 PM-10:30 PM Monday through Thursday, until 11:30 PM on Friday and Saturday, and until 10 PM on Sundays, every night until the ice melts!
