Townsend Rolls Out a New Cocktail Menu for Spring & Summer

Rabbits Are Thieves, one of Townsend's new cocktails.

South Philly's Townsend is kicking off spring and summer with an entirely new cocktail menu, which utilizes fresh, local ingredients and is perfect for warmer weather ahead.

Tod Wentz's namesake restaurant, which specializes in French cuisine, is also known for its incredibly inventive cocktails, which change seasonally based on local ingredients, the kitchen's offerings, and the creative minds behind the bar. Each season, the bar staff replaces the cocktail menu with drinks tailored to the weather, and this particular slate of drinks is ideal for warm weather and sunny skies.

"What I like about it is that it uses a lot of seasonal ingredients and a lot of creative ideas, but at the same time, the drinks are accessible and rooted in classics, so everyone will be able to find something they like," says Harry Jamison, one of Townsend's talented bartenders.

"I think the main thing about the menu is the diversity," says Jeff Jagger, the bar manager. "It checks off so many boxes for any type of drinker, and the inspirations for each drink range from what the kitchen is doing to utilizing underappreciated liquors. We always try to create drinks that guests will enjoy while still flexing our creative muscles. I think it's really fun, and going into a short spring and a hot summer, each of these is refreshing and drinkable."

Check out the menu and photos of select drinks below, and stop in at Townsend any time this season to try these excellent cocktails before fall comes around.
