The Yards Real Ale Invitational Will Return to Philly on Sunday, April 14
The Yards Real Ale Invitational, one of Philadelphia's most beloved beer festivals, will make a triumphant return to the city on Sunday, April 14 from 12 PM - 4 PM.
After taking a year off while Yards Brewing Co. moved into its gorgeous, expansive new brewery and taproom at 500 Spring Garden Street, the event will stage a comeback in 2019 and feature over 60 cask-conditioned beers from over 50 breweries, just like in previous years. This specific brewing method, which originated in England, inspired one of Yards' signature beers — their Extra Special Ale (ESA) — and as such, Yards pays homage to this method and style of beer by bringing it to Philadelphia along with plenty of other local breweries. Guests will be able to wander both the taproom and the brewery itself while they sip, getting a rare insight into Yards' brewing process housed within their luxurious new facility.
“ESA was the first beer we ever brewed, back in a garage in Manayunk in '94,” says Yards Founder and Brewmaster Tom Kehoe. “Yards’ roots are in the tradition of British ale brewing, so we don’t ever want to forget that. Real Ale celebrates our history and the real good time that breweries have with each other when we all get together. The Real Ale Invitational is the beer aficionado's beer festival, and the whole crew here is proud to be bringing it back bigger than ever at our new brewery and taproom.”
Tickets are $65 per person and include all beer, light bites, and live music from TJ Kong and the Atomic Bomb, as well as a special commemorative glass for tasting — so grab your tickets today, since you won't want to miss the return of this classic beer event.
