Pizzeria Beddia's Famous Pizzas are Back & Now Served in a Full Restaurant & Bar in Fishtown
Pizzeria Beddia, which was once a cash-only, one-room spot on Girard Avenue with no phone or website that only served 40 pizzas a day, is finally back in Fishtown with a full restaurant and bar at 1313 N. Lee Street.
Tucked away on a side street just off of Frankford Avenue, the new Beddia doesn't look like much from the outside, only recognizable by its neon green sign.
Gone are the days where you'd have to wait in line for hours for a Beddia pizza – you might still have to wait a little while, but now, you can sit down right in the space once you get a table.
With several seating areas, there's plenty of room for guests excited to try Beddia's famously delicious pies. You can also snag a spot at their bar, which offers the full food menu as well as drinks.
Cocktails here are on draft – try their amaro old fashioned ($12), made with Old Overholt rye, Cynar, and and demerara.
Their house Negroni ($13) is pretty standard, crafted using local Rowhouse Gin, Campari, and Dolin Rouge vermouth. For a lighter cocktail, try the "ver-bucha" ($11), which is kombucha mixed with Dolin Blanc vermouth.
They also have kombucha on draft alongside a few local brews from spots like Tired Hands and Mainstay Brewing, as well as bottles from Philly craft breweries that include Love City Brewing and Fermentery Form.
As far as the wine goes, there's a focus on natural varietals and even a few draft options, including a red and a white, alongside wines by the glass or by the bottle that include selections from Italy to California.
And, of course, there's the pizzas – there are only four pies available, but between plain (with additional toppings available), "angry" (with pickled chilis), a white pizza with swiss chard and fresh garlic, or plain with anchovies, you'll have plenty of options, and of course, calling Beddia's standard pizza "plain" is a pretty huge understatement. (Plain with no toppings runs for $22 per pie, and all the rest are $25 per pie.)
Chef Beddia has also created a small menu of appetizers to pair with your pizza, ranging from tomato pie ($4) to fresh salads, like their lettuce, apple, radish, and almond salad topped with fish sauce vinaigrette ($12).
If you're still hungry after all of that, try their soft serve ($5), which you can top with the amari of your choice.
Reservations are hard to come by (and can be made through Resy on the restaurant's website), but fear not – most of the tables, as well as the bar, are held for walk-ins, so you can put your name down and grab a drink there, or at any nearby bar in Fishtown while you wait.
Whether you never got the chance to try Joe Beddia's pizza before or you're excited to have another slice, try to get a reservation or simply take your chances in line, and enjoy a full-service version of this classic Philly pizza joint.
