Philly's Best Happy Hours: Chocodiem's $8 Draft Wines & $10 Chocolate Martinis

Welcome to Philly’s Best Happy Hours, a feature highlighting great happy hours in different neighborhoods throughout Philadelphia. Since Drink Philly started out as a place to find happy hours in the city, we thought it was only right to return to our roots and turn the spotlight on some of Philly’s absolute best happy hour deals.

This time, we stopped by Chocodiem at The Bourse, a unique dessert spot locatred in Old City's upscale food hall. Founded by award-winning master chocolatier Jean-Paul Hepp, this is Chocodiem's first Center City location, but you can also visit them in Clinton, NJ as well as in Easton, PA. Hepp was later joined by Katherine MacDonnell, a veteran of the fashion industry whose sharp eye and discerning taste helped create the visual aesthetics of Chocodiem's overall brand. Ever since 2012, this high-end dessert shop has been providing both Pennsylvania and New Jersey with hand-made chocolates, delectable macarons, and other inspired sweet treats.

Chocodiem's Bourse location offers a bar as well as a chocolate shop, and that bar offers happy hour every Monday through Friday from 5 PM - 7 PM, featuring some of the sweetest specials around.

The shop's menu of chocolate martinis are unlike anything you've had before, mixing top-shelf liqueurs with their house-made drinking chocolate and served in varieties from Espresso to Salted Caramel, each accompanied with a matching truffle for garnish. During happy hour, you can score any of their chocolate martinis for just $10 (they're normally $14).

You can also try one of Chocodiem's wines on draft (all of which are Italian varietals) for $8 a glass during happy hour; choose from everything from Italian rosé to luscious reds to dry, crisp whites.

Don't forget about the chocolates while you're there – pair your martini or glass of wine with any of Chocodiem's house-made truffles, which come in varieties like bourbon pecan, mandarin, espresso, and more. Pick up pre-arranged or custom assortments of truffles to take home to share (or eat solo).

Feeling French? Try their colorful macarons, and choose from flavors that include orange blossom, almond, pistachio, and more.

For a savory treat, they also offer snacks like trail mix ($6) that pair perfectly with any of their wines or sweeter drinks – or, since The Bourse has plenty of vendors, bring your dinner over to Chocodiem so you're ready for dessert when you're done.

To top it all off, while you enjoy your desserts and drinks, snap a shot of Chocodiem's super Instagram-ready chocolate waterfall (yes, it's real).

Sometimes, you want to eat dessert first, so stop by Chocodiem during happy hour for a sweet treat alongside great drink specials.
