Independence Seaport Museum After Hours Lets You Drink While Exploring the Museum with Waterfront Views
There's a new place to drink on the Delaware Waterfront — the Independence Seaport Museum has opened a new bar right on Penn's Landing called Riverview Tavern, open Fridays and Saturdays from 5 PM - 9 PM.
Located in the rotunda right at the base of the nautically-themed museum, the Riverview Tavern offers comfortable seating, a bar that offers beer, wine, and mixed drinks, spectacular views of the waterfront, and, of course, air conditioning.
The museum is full of nautical and historical treasures to keep you interested, and you're welcome to bring your drink into the museum while you learn about the history of the city's ships and ports.
The bar stocks local spirits like Bluecoat alongside rotating craft beers from Philly and beyond, alongside small bites, wine by the glass, and sangria. As far as cocktails go, they keep it simple by offering spirits with the mixer of your choice.
Before or after your cocktail, swing by the harbor and take a ride in a swan boat at Paddle Penn's Landing on calm, protected waters. Choose between kayaks, rowboats, and peddle boats, which come in swans, pirate ships, and dragons.
You can also check out the museum's newest exhibit, River Alive!, which explores Pennsylvania's local regional waterways and how they all connect to the city, even providing its biggest source of drinking water (15 million people drink water sourced from the Delaware River).
Admission to the museum, which includes one free drink at the Tavern, is just $8, so head to the Riverview Tavern, enjoy a drink while looking out at the Delaware River, and then take some time to explore this fascinating museum, which chronicles the history of Philadelphia's ships and ports.
