Karen Eland Paints with Beer
Oregon artist Karen Eland is not afraid to try new things. She made a name for herself when she moved away from traditional pencils and watercolors and began painting with coffee. It was only a short leap to beer – liquor and wine both proved more difficult to use – which she now uses to create portraits, signs and whimsical scenes.
Guinness has commissioned beer artwork to use in promotions and advertising, as have several other breweries and restaurants. She’s even done labels for bottles of select craft brew offerings. Beer is not an easy medium, as one errant drop of water can ruin a work, but it’s a fun one that garners a lot of attention. Eland accepts custom art requests, so check out her work at BeerPainter.com and order that perfect piece to hang over your home bar.
