Victory Brewing's New Beer on the Horizon
Victory Brewing Company announced via their blog that a new beer will be released on October 15th.
The beer will be called Otto, a smoked, Belgian-style, bottle conditioned dubbel ale. It will be available in 750 ml corked bottles.
Bill and Ron, the co-founders of Victory, based the recipe of the beer on their experiences in Bamberg, Germany in 1987. They opted for smoked Belgian caramel and Munich malts, German hops and Trappist yeast.
“The complimentary flavors of smoked malt and Belgian yeast seemed like an obvious combination,” said Bill. “As far as we know, no one has bothered to put them together until now.”
This isn't Victory's first foray into smoky beers. They're already well known for their Scarlet Fire Rauchbier, a smoke-tastic brew frequently served at their brewpub in Downingtown.
Otto will be 8.1% ABV, and should be readily available in stores on October 15th.
