Refined Tuesday Choices: Four Roses at Percy Street, Wines of Argentina at Jet
Yes, February 21 is Mardi Gras, and we’ll be posting a roundup of some fun Fat Tuesday action soon. But if your tastes run toward more cultivated carousing, there are two refined options to check out (both require RSVPs).
Chef-owner Erin O’Shea is welcoming Master Distiller Jim Rutledge to the Mike Solomonov/Steve Cook South Street ‘cue stop so that she can select a custom barrel of Four Roses to sell as Percy Street Barbecue’s signature bourbon. As we all know, tasting whiskey is hard work, so she is inviting Philadelphians to join in on the selection process. Tasting begins at 6 PM, and will feature sips from four different barrels, along with discussion on the spirits. RSVP to fourroses@percystreet.com to get on the list and participate.
If Italian wine is what gets you excited, check out Jet Wine Bar’s “Italy in Argentina” tasting class. Just $25 to attend, the two-hour session will feature five different vintages of Italian grapes that are grown in the soils of South America. Vino expert Bob Barrett will lead the 6:30–8:30 PM gathering, complete with sips and snacks. Stick around after the class and receive 15% off your bar tab at the elegantly quirky South Street cafe (tickets here).
