MGD64 Lemonade Cancelled
Stop the presses: MillerCoors’ recent venture to “tap into the flavored beer market” has yielded less profits than previously projected. As a result (brace yourselves) they are pulling the plug on their latest line of imbued water, MGD 64 Lemonade.
In a statement released via email to distributors, president of sales Ed McBrien announced that: “Winning in beer requires testing the bounds of the market with innovation… with that commitment, however, comes a recognition that not every innovation will succeed.”
To try to save money on deconstruction costs, the company is buying up remaining stock from distributors, wherever legal. If they are trying to save themselves from more embarrassment by erasing any evidence this beer existed, they aren’t doing themselves any favors by labeling this beer as “innovative” or their prerogative as “winning at beer” in public statements.
MGD 64 Lemonade was released early this spring and somehow, miraculously, made it to late July. Here’s to hoping that this insult to beer meets a suitable end at the bottom of a ditch, as flushing it down the toilet would just mean wasting more water.
