Sly Fox Bock Fest & Goat Race, May 6
What goes best with strong lager? Goats, of course! As is tradition, the first Sunday in May brings the Sly Fox Bock Festival & Goat Race, a daylong festival of great bock beers and amusing domesticated bovines at the Phoenixville Brewhouse & Eatery.
For this annual party, Sly Fox brewmaster Brian O’Reilly and his crew will produce a lineup of assorted bock styles, including Slacker Bock, Helles Bock, Instigator Doppelbock and two Eisbocks, which will be poured alongside the release of the day: the Maibock. As attendees mix and mingle from 11 AM–6 PM, the goats will await the 2 PM starting gun and then dash along the grassy hillside. The winner will receive glory and the honor of having the Maibock named after him or her.
If you’ve got a goat to enter, the cost is $20, which includes a VIP pass, a mug and a t-shirt. If you just want to join the other 2,500–3,000 folks out for good beer and a good time, the event is free, with pay-as-you-go drinks and eats. Are you up for hanging out with some cute barnyard friends? Can’t think of a better way to spend a spring Sunday.
