Mimosa Taste Test with Ben FM's Marilyn Russell at Reserve, April 1
Did you know that champagne and other sparkling wines not only taste delicious, but actually are thought to have health benefits, including relieving oxidative stress and improving cell restoration?
Of course, all imbibing — even in the quest for good health — should be done moderately and with a designated driver. But having recently learned about the aforementioned positives about bubbly, I can't resist having a mimosa taste-test to launch what will be a weekly series of Ben FM Sunday brunches at the Old City steakhouse Reserve. With your help (and the help of celebrity bloggers in Philly), let's create the perfect brunch cocktail — “Marilyn's Mimosa.”
The standard mimosa is one part champagne, one part orange juice and sometimes a splash of Grand Marnier, and honestly, my feeling here is if it ain't broke, don't fix it. But it’s so much fun to play with different variations of drinks, and just a little part of me wants one I can call my own. Why not a mimosa that starts with champagne, but then is sparked up by a mix of orange and mango, or pomegranate juice? And for a splash add sweet honey bourbon or whipped vanilla vodka. Just some initial quick ideas!
The variations are endless, so join me this Sunday at 11 AM at Reserve and do some taste-testing with your brunch to help me create the best mimosa. By the way, mimosas and bloody marys are bottomless during brunch, plus I'll be bringing some Ben FM prizes to give away. It'll be a great way to kick-off your Sunday fun day!
