Cocktail Recipe: Slate Rose with Brugal Anejo Rum
On 21st Street, between Walnut and Chestnut — one of the more unassuming blocks in Rittenhouse — Slate restaurant provides quality food and drink at relatively inexpensive prices. All specialty cocktails are under $10, which is definitely a deal, considering the neighborhood.
One of the new additions for spring is the Slate Rose, which is our Drink of the Week. The central spirit in this drink is Brugal Anejo Rum. Brugal is produced in the Dominican Republic, and this particular version is aged in bourbon and whiskey casks for 3–5 year. It’s smooth and flavorful, though not overly sweet, so it works well with other liqueurs, as in the drink we present here.
Check out the cocktail recipe below, or head over to Slate to have one shaken up by the professionals behind the friendly bar.
