Need Tunes for Your Next Party? L.C. Bee's Got You Covered
Last week, thanks to the internet sleuthing of our bud Dan McQuade, we became aware that the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board has a mascot. What kind of animal suits an organization that  manages the beverage alcohol industry? First thing that popped into our minds was definitely a bumble bee. Yup, meet L.C. Bee, the face of the organization.

In all fairness, the PLCB is also in charge of providing an education program on the effects of alcohol, which is where Ms. Bee comes in. (Yes, it’s a she. How do you tell a female bee from a male one? The stinger. And we’re sure L.C. is so outfitted.) The eight-foot-tall fuzzy bug travels around the state -- she’s even done appearances with Miss Pennsylvania -- and provides classes and outreach to kids to keep them from underage drinking. After all, according to her bio, L.C. was born in 1992, and is not quite even 21 herself.

The Beester offers kids games and puzzles, but the best thing she’s got going for her is the catchy tunes she’s recorded. For example, an excerpt from the Pop Shuffle:

If someone says "Getting drunk is fun,"
just remember you are number one.

I am special and so are you.
Don't drink alcohol, its bad for you.
No, don't drink alcohol, its bad for you.

If someone asks you "Do you want some beer?"
You just say "No, I don't want it near!"

If someone asks you "Do you want some wine?"
You just tell them "That's a waste of time!"

Guaranteed to add life to your next event, right? (You can download the songs here.)

Bee calls out a few of the characters that represent government organizations around the country on her friends page, which include McGruff (the crime dog), FEMA’s “spokescrab” Hermit and -- of course -- the wildfire-fighting Smokey the Bear.

Do any other states’ liquor boards have mascots? Let us know in the comments if you’ve spotted one.
