New Phillies Cocktail: The Clincher
Thanks go to Percy Street Barbecue for help with the mixology and photo
In honor of the Phillies’ amazing win last night, with which they clinched the National League East division title for the fifth straight year, we present a new cocktail: the Clincher. Made with the fresh taste of Philadelphia Distilling’s new corn whiskey, this drink is strong, well-rounded and covered in red, much like the team themselves. Plus, it’s easy to make, so you won’t miss a pitch. Mix one up as you contemplate last night’s Raul Ibanez grand slam home run, and savor it as you look forward to our sluggers, adept fielders and four-ace rotation making the most of this post-season.
The Clincher
1½ oz. XXX Shine Whiskey
¾ oz. sloe gin
¾ oz. amaretto
splash cranberry juice
fresh lemon juice
In a mixing glass, combine the whiskey, sloe gin, amaretto and a squeeze of fresh lemon juice. Shake well and strain into a martini glass or coupe. Add a splash of cranberry juice to the top, and garnish with a cherry.
The brash flavors of the white whiskey are tempered and smoothed by the amaretto and sloe, and then given a bit of perky freshness again with the addition lemon and cranberry. It will tickle your tongue and warm your insides, perfect for watching October’s games under crisp autumn skies.
