Starr Events Tiki Pop-Up at Philadelphia Museum of Art, June 28-30
We’ve already had plenty of tropical weather this season, leaving us with a craving for icy, fresh-fruit cocktails, preferably with a side of steel drums. From Thursday– Saturday, June 28–30, Starr Events is coming to the rescue with a Polynesian style pop-up tiki bar and restaurant on the East Terrace of the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
Inspired by the museum’s upcoming exhibit of “earthly paradise” paintings from Gaugin, Cezanne and Matisse, the Caribbean-themed fest will feature a true outdoor tiki set-up, thatched umbrellas, torches and all, serving island drinks like the Pink Flamingo, The Big Kahuna and an actually good Mai Thai.
Plenty of food will be available to complement the libations, including a whole roasted pig, seafood “laulau” wrapped in banana leaves, Molokai sweet potatoes, slow-smoked BBQ brisket and sweets like pineapple upside-down cake and chocolate macademia mousse.
The whole shindig runs 6–9 PM each evening, and will cost you $48 per person for all you can eat plus one of the signature cocktails, along with a commemorative tiki glass you get to take home. After that first drink, a full cash bar will provide additional sips as you breathe in the hibiscus blossoms and gaze out on the Philadelphia skyline. Call 215-684-7990 or visit the Granite Hill OpenTable page to reserve your spot. Plane tickets? Who needs ‘em.
